PALO ALTO — November 2, 2026. Palo Alto will introduce ‘Luminous Ties,’ an interactive public artwork by artist Kiana Honarmand, on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

A sculpture designed for participation

The work takes the form of a spiral bench that lights up when people sit on opposite sides. The city says it grew from conversations about home and belonging during its Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King artist residency.

Where to see it

The public unveiling is scheduled at City Hall King Plaza, 250 Hamilton Avenue. The city invites residents to meet the artist and participants who contributed to the project. Admission is listed as free.

More than a ribbon cutting

The city frames the installation as a lasting public art project inviting interaction among neighbors. Check any last-minute outdoor event or accessibility updates before arriving.
